New Jersey Assembly passes Gay Marriage Bill, Governor to Veto it

On Feb 16, the New Jersey Assembly passed a same-sex marriage bill �that would allow gay couples to marry . However, the bill faces fresh opposition from Governor Chris Christie, who has vowed to veto it. Earlier this week, the New Jersey State Senate had passed the bill with 24 to 16 votes and sent it to the Assembly for voting. A similar move at legalising same-sex marriages two years earlier�in New Jersey had failed when the supporters of the bill could not garner enough votes.
