Two new petitions have been filed before the Delhi High Court by a lesbian and a gay couple, seeking recognition of their relationship under the Special Marriage Act and the Foreign Marriage Act respectively.

A gay couple from Kerala have filed a writ petition in the High Court for recognition of same-sex marriages under the Special Marriage Act 1954, and has also stated that the Act is discriminatory towards homosexuals and violates provisions of the Constitution of India.
The PIL has sought social, economical and political inclusion and rehabilitation of the transgender community in Jammu and Kashmir, and their recognition as a marginalised and vulnerable section of the society.
