Gay Indian man marries his partner in traditional Indian way

Harshal Sanghvi married his longtime boyfriend Matt in a ceremony officiated by a friend in California.

Harshal wore a white Sherwani, and looked elated.

The two have been together for 13 years. This included a 10 month separation when Matt was pursuing a fellowship in Washington DC. They would both fly to and fro monthly to be together.

The wedding ceremony began with the invocation of Lord Ganesha, and parents of both Matt and Harshal offered flowers to the deity.

This was followed by Jayamala, where the grooms exchanged garlands according to Hindu tradition.

Then Harshal’s sister read out a poem by Rabindranath Tagore

And Matt’s sister read out a poem by George Elliot

Then they exchanged their vows

And exchanged rings and said “I Do”

And then the grooms kissed each other

And lived happily ever after. May God bless the couple
