Bangalore Queer FIlm Festival 2011 Submission Call

In BQFF 2010, 52 films from 15 countries were screened accompanied by panel discussions, poetry readings, dance and music performances and a Queer photo exhibition displaying works by photographers from across the world. BQFF 2010 saw the all-India premiere screening of the highly successful, BAFTA-award winning and Academy Award-nominated, “A Single Man” by Tom Ford starring Colin Firth. Other films included: “Edie & Thea: A Very Long Engagement” which was the official BQFF selection for Documentary; “All My Life” a fascinating Egyptian film was the centre-piece and was produced by the Egyptian Underground Film Society; “The World Unseen” was the closing film by South African writer/director Shamim Sarif. BQFF screened collections from Australian filmmakers, Hong Kong Filmmakers, first-time Indian filmmakers and many many more. Audiences flocked in great numbers and BQFF screened to a full house almost throughout the festival. The screening of the premiere film did not even have standing room in the auditorium of Alliance Francaise de Bangalore and more than 400 people attended that one screening alone! The festival was covered by most local media and some of the films were even reviewed in local newsprint.
