As winter sets in India, so do pride festivities. Leading the way will be two cities – Delhi and Bengaluru. Both the cities will be organising pride marches on November 25th. This will be the first pride march in these cities after the Supreme Court of India read down Section 377 and decriminalised homosexuality in India.

Like every year, Bengaluru pride will start from Tulsi Park and end at Town Hall. The pride march is being preceded by a month full of activities, like Garage Sale, Meet up of parents of LGBTQs, pride run, diversity fair etc. The march in Delhi will start from Tolstoy Marg. The organisers have planned a poster making session on 18th November at Lodi Gardens.

On 6th September 2018, in a landmark ruling, the Supreme Court of India decriminalised homosexuality when it reinstated the Delhi High Court verdict of 2009, removing consensual same-sex from the purview of archaic Section 377. A large number of people are expected to participate in this year’s pride marches, given the historic verdict of the Supreme Court that decriminalised homosexuality.
