“No gay kiss please! We are Indians!” Yes, that seems to be the motto of Censor Board chief Pahlaj Nihalani who has deleted gay kisses from Befikre song. The songLabonKa Karobaarwas released over youtube and had various couples kissing each other, including gay and lesbian couples. There were two gay kisses in the original song, which have now been deleted in the movie, because the Censor Board chief thinks it will offend Indians.

“Yes, we have removed the gay kiss from the first song in Befikre. The whole song is about various couples of different ages kissing all over Paris. We felt the gay kiss would not be acceptable to all the viewers,” Pahlaj Nihalani told The Quint. According to The Quint report, the Censor Board chief discussed the deletion of kisses with director Aditya Chopra, who agreed to the cuts.

This isn’t the first time that gay related scenes or topics have faced the scissors in the hands of the Censor Board. Earlier, the trailer of Hansal Mehta’s movie Aligarh was awarded an A certificate because the topic of homosexuality was considered too adult. The movie Dum Laga Ke Haisha has the word “lesbian”muted out as well.
