What was being feared initially has been confirmed now. It was the Govt of India that ordered banning of porn websites in India. But what was not known initially is how many sites had been blocked. The number stands at 857, and for all we know, it might be just the starting. News sites reported today that “By order no. 813-7/25/2011-DS (Vol.-V), the department of Electronics and Information Technology has asked the Department of Telecom to notify internet service providers to block access to 857 URLs.”
The list of the sites blocked is also available now, and it includes many gay porn websites, as well as tumblr blogs with pornographic content. Interestingly, a lot of the sites on the list also include those with a distinctly “Indian” taste, like desipapa.com, desikahani.net etc.
Some of the gay porn websites blocked include blog.falconstudios.com, gggay.com, gay43.com, dagay.com
The complete list can be accessed in this IndiaToday report.
