Mandeep, a gay American Sikh man talks about coming out to his parents in this video. But coming out was not the only big announcement that he made to his parents. Prior to that, he also told them that he will be cutting his hairs – a mark of Sikh identity. But cutting off his hairs did not restore his confidence levels, and he had to finally acknowledge his sexuality to himself, and then his parents. That is what finally made him happy. As he says, coming out was much harder for him as he knew “zero gay men who were South Asians.”
