For close to half a century, San Francisco has celebrated lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) pride with parades, celebrations and festivals. Its rich counterculture history stretches from North Beach to the Castro and dates as far back as the mid-1800s.
Bombay Times had called Sukhnidh and her friends for a shoot. However, when they reached the venue, they were asked to go home and come back the next day, because in their present clothes, they didn't "look gay enough".
Public, unfounded accusations are what we, as LGBT people, suffer every day of our lives. Unlike the internet vigilantes, we should see the irony and the contradiction in repeating those dangerous and lawless tactics pretending it is justice we seek through them.
The 5 days will be a confluence of cultural & artistic performances, intellectual discussions and personal conversations, through series of events such as – the Leadership program, Social Beauty Pageant, Inspirational Talks, Open Forum and Film Screenings.
