A transperson was allegedly assaulted and raped by three policemen in Ajmer, The Hindu reported. The survivor was taken into custody on ‘fictitious charges’ and was raped by the policemen in turns. Medical examination has confirmed sexual assault. The survivor got into an argument with an auto driver, following which the policemen got involved and made objectionable statements. When she and her companions objected, they were beaten up. Rs 40,000 was also extorted from her to let her go from police custody. After she was given bail, she managed to lodge a complaint at the same police station, but the accused have allegedly only been transferred. The survivor was also threatened with a drug trafficking charge should she file a complaint.
