Poem: Distant Desires

To smell the nice mix of faded deo and faded sweat ..

to find a home in his tight embrace ..

to play with his stupid sleeping face ..

That’s all I am asking for,

that’s all that seems so far away,

in some other life, on a distant day –

To dance at our family festivals,

to scream at colourful carnivals !

to tend me in lonely sickness,

to know and protect his weakness,

to paint our clothes and wear them,

to imagine up dragons and dare them !

to fight and hit and still care,

to walk with him towards nowhere ..

to want and to be wanted,

to take each other for granted ..

That’s all I had asked for,

that’s all I shall not get,

that’s all my heart should forget.
