Poem: Monsoon

boy rain monsoon

Painting by Kashish Seth

Like a long lost person whose arrival has delayed

This rain, this monsoon suddenly came to surprise you

When you had almost given up

But the sudden unannounced arrival

Evokes the deepest emotions in you

Rouses those unrequited yearnings of love and touch

It makes you believe it will start all over again

And the story rewritten.

But like the lost lover

The rain and the monsoon

Beautiful and enchanting though

Has the temperament to abandon

Without the slightest hint

Leaving you in despair and darkness again

And never look back at you

Even for once

You were just a passing thing, you didn’t know.
